Dr. Rebecca Friesen has a keen interest in movement and the health and wellness of the human body. After obtaining her Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of Alberta (in Canada), she worked as a personal trainer with an emphasis on form and corrective exercise, before deciding to pursue a doctorate of chiropractic from Life Chiropractic College West. She also has an early childhood education background, having worked with toddlers and preschoolers in a daycare setting and as an Educational Assistant.
One area of particular interest is helping others better understand their body, whether that be through how it functions or through gaining increased proprioception, the internal sense of how the body moves and where it is in space. Dr. Friesen went from being completely disconnected from her own body as a teenager to gaining a strong sense of control and awareness through physical therapy, movement and singing classes, and strength training. And as a self-professed anatomy nerd, she is more than happy to share her knowledge, or dive into research.
While her level of activity slowed during school, Dr. Friesen has previously engaged in musical theatre, Muay Thai, Olympic lifting, Pilates, and yoga, as well as various fitness classes. Currently she is rediscovering movement in a slower, more connected, and mindful way.
Dr. Friesen has explored and utilizes a variety of chiropractic approaches including Diversified, Drop Table, Activator, MLS, and Bio-Geometric Integration, and has training in complementary therapies such as Craniosacral, Reiki, and most recently some osteopathic skills. One of her major focuses is trying to find the ease in the system before delivering an adjustment, and as every body is unique, she works to adapt to best serve whoever is on her table.
She is excited to begin her journey as a chiropractor at Los Gatos Chiropractic and Wellness, and looks forward to serving you.
